Experience

I have worked as an SAT tutor, academic and fellowships advisor (my former advisees have been admitted to the Fletcher School of Diplomacy, Georgetown School of Foreign Service, the Fulbright Scholarship program, among others), and violin tutor and chamber music coach over the last five years. I have taught in English and Mandarin Chinese, in five countries, and this year was appointed to the faculty of Austin Chamber Music Center.

Biography

I am an internationally-minded writer and violinist. I studied Music and East Asian Studies at Wellesley College, where I graduated with Honors, Phi Beta Kappa, and magna cum laude. I received a Watson Fellowship, which funded my yearlong self-designed project surveying musical manifestations of multiculturalism in China, Indonesia, and Turkey. I also am very interested in censorship and media, subjects on which I have been published. I have recently completed a MSc in Politics and Communication at the LSE, and am currently undertaking a MMus at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance.

Personal Approach

I seek to identify a student's learning style and tailor my method to fit the individual. I try to make learning fun and engaging--more memorable and less laborious--so that the material is retained.
