Victoria Pilkington
Location: West London

I predominantly teach:
Application Essays, SATI Writing
I also teach:
Application process, College choice, SATI Critical Reading, SATII Literature
Experience
Although I began tutoring English while at Brown University, the bulk of my teaching experience has been in the past few years, during which I have tutored 15-20 hours per week for a range of short and long term clients via an agency. (Greater London Tutors & Holland Park Tuition). I continue to work with them teaching English, Drama and Film studies, from 11+ to degree level.
In the past year, I have taken on 8 students privately for SAT and college application assistance. Almost all of those students came word of mouth from someone I tutored. My students have/are applying to a wide range of universities, from the Ivy Leagues to specialist sports institutions.
Biography
After completing GCSEs (3 A*, 7 A) and A Levels (A,A,B) at Wycombe Abbey School, I graduated from Brown in 2006 with a 3.7 GPA and a BA in Literatures & Cultures in English. After graduation I returned to the UK and began a career in PR, where I stayed for 3 years. I loved my colleagues, but realised the industry just wasn't for me. Since 2008, I've been tutoring to support myself while following my dream of a screenwriting career. After a Screenwriting MA, I have had a short film in several international festivals, and have been approached to turn the short into a feature film script, which I am working on currently.
Testimonials
I would be happy to put you in touch with all my past students, but a recent text last week from one student, whom I taught Reasoning SAT 1 (wants to attend Harvard):
Hi Victoria! SAT results in - 690 Reading (87th percentile), 730 Writing (98th percentile). Very happy but still room for improvement. Our sessions really paid off though, couldn't have done it without!
Another email, from a mature student applying to Columbia GS: 'Thank you for all your help! I couldn't have done it without you!'
