Experience
As the eldest of three, it was natural for me to help my brother and sister with homework and exam preparation. I began tutoring younger students in my school when I was sixteen as part of an academic honours program. In university, I continued with an official mentoring role and since graduating I have tutored SAT prep in the U.S. and London.
Biography
I grew up in New Jersey but lived in London for two years during middle and high school with my family and attended the American School in London.
I graduated from Oxford in 2008 with a BA(Hons) in History and just completed a Masters at the LSE. Between finishing my undergraduate degree and starting my Masters, I worked as an associate at an asset management firm in New York for nineteen months. I have just started work at a financial PR firm in the city and I'm loving the experience of working in London.
I generally love sports, particularly lacrosse and skiing. I'm also an avid reader and enjoy creative writing on the side.
Personal Approach
Ultimately, the US admissions process can be overwhelming for even the best students. Having gone through the process myself I hope to not only support a particular SAT skill set or application essay but to de-mystify the entire process.
I think that the real benefit of one-to-one tutoring is the ability to tailor each lesson to a student's individual learning style. In addition to developing a concrete skill-set for a student to use when they are faced with challenging exam questions, building self-confidence is essential to sustained academic success.
