Our Approach To Tuition
USApplicants focuses on the individual student. We acknowledge that some students need only a brief introduction and refresher, while others prefer or are better suited to a long term programme.
We provide support across the three core areas of US university admissions: SAT Tuition, College Advice, and Application Advice.
USApplicants has a 5-point approach to private tuition.
Here is the framework; please see underneath for further information.
1. Initial conversation
This is usually done over the phone, though we are happy to come to your home. Our goal is to establish the lay of the land. We like to find out as much as possible about the student so as to more accurately select a tutor. We especially like to know what the stumbling blocks are (Functions? Essay Structuring?) so that we can troubleshoot more accurately.
- Is he/she baffled by context, content or both?
- Is she/he shy or outgoing?
- How does he/she learn?
We then select the most appropriate tutor who will treat your child as an individual learner.
2. Assessment (optional)
We are happy to send you a practice test; often this helps the tutor teach directly to the problem areas, though it can be frustrating for the student.
3. Selection of a tutor
Having established the basics, USApplicants selects the tutor best suited to the task, but we can offer a selection of tutors if desired. We will provide you with a tutor profile that includes an individual tutor biography, photo and testimonials. Please see Tutors to get more of an idea of the sort of tutors USApplicants employs.
4. Trial session
The first lesson is only charged if you're satisfied. We shall call you as soon as possible after the first lesson to see what you - and, just as importantly, the student - made of the experience.
5. Continual feedback
Tutors give a full monthly progress report, which will be passed to you. On top of that, we maintain a close involvement with the assignment, contacting you usually every 2-3 weeks to ensure that tutors are correctly prepared and that tuition is progressing in line with the goals defined at the outset.
Have a read through our resources, meet our tutors, hear what others think about us, or try the question of the day.
