SAT Exams
The first port of call for most parents and students concerns the College Board administered SAT exams.
The SAT Reasoning Test (commonly referred to as the SAT I) is required for most American universities, and entails sections on writing, critical reading and mathematics. While it is often daunting versus the focused AS/A2 and IB curricula, with guidance and strategy work, students should expect to do just as well as their American counterparts.
The SAT Subject tests (commonly referred to as SAT IIs):
- There are 20 subjects; English Lit, 9 Languages, the 3 Sciences, 2 Maths and 2 History.
- Each test lasts 1 hour, and students can take up to 3 in one sitting.
- There are 6 test days; BE AWARE that not all languages are available at each of these.
- We can provide tuition for these, though if students are able to find a good match with their AS/A2 subjects, they may find that they are very well prepared already. We are developing short guides to each of these for students and tutors alike.
Some students may be planning to take the ACT test – an equivalent to the SAT that is used widely across the US and is accepted by most universities. Please do give us a call if you would like more information about tutoring for the ACT.
