ISEE and SSAT
USApplicants provides top private tuition for the ISEE and SSAT. Ours are the best ISEE and SSAT tutors in London: former teachers and recent American graduates, often studying in the UK on internally renowned scholarships, with a strong record of tutoring primary and secondary school students. We specialize in tuition for UK students taking the ISEE and SSAT: we know which topics aren’t usually covered in UK schools, and how to efficiently teach that material for the test. Taking the ISEE or SSAT? Some helpful information:
Many independent primary and secondary schools in the US require applicants to take the ISEE or SSAT. Each exam has multiple levels – which exam needs to be sat is determined by student year, and students are only compared against other test takers in their year.
If you’re unsure whether your student should take the ISEE or SSAT, you might find this chart helpful: Comparing the ISEE and SSAT.
The ISEE is offered at three levels in London: lower, middle, and upper. Test sections include Verbal Reasoning, Critical Reading, Quantitative Reasoning and Mathematics Achievement, as well as an unscored essay that is sent directly to the schools. Scores are reported as “stanines” ranging from 1-9. The ISEE can be taken at the American School in London (St. John’s Wood) or at Prometric (Mansion House). At ASL, the exam is administered on paper, and scores are mailed to the family and indicated schools, usually within 5-7 business days. The test dates are typically once a month, during the testing season of October to April. At Prometric, the exam is administered on the computer and scores are posted online for the family and schools, usually within 24 to 72 hours. There tend to be multiple exam dates each month at Prometric. We recommend taking the paper test where possible. You must register to take the ISEE at either location on the official ISEE site.
The SSAT is offered at two levels in London: middle and upper. Test sections include Verbal Reasoning, Critical Reading, and Quantitative Reasoning, as well as an unscored essay that is sent directly to the schools. Scores are reported as percentiles. The official test site for the SSAT in London is the American School in London, where the exam will be administered on paper. Scores are uploaded to your SSAT online account approximately two weeks after the test date. The test dates are typically once a month, during the testing season of October to April. You must register for the SSAT on the official SSAT site.
